Bad writing can sometimes teach us more than good writing can. When you pick up a great book, it might be hard to pinpoint the specifics of what makes it all work. Pick up a bad book, and well…the problems tend to jump off the page.
Now there’s a movie to show us exactly that.
I heard about Bad Writing (the movie) a few months ago when it was first being released in a small sampling of theaters. It’s now finally on DVD.
From the website of Bad Writing (The Movie): “Bad Writing is a documentary about a wannabe poet who sets off on a quest about writing — bad writing, good writing, and the process in between. What he learns from some leading figures in the literary world will inspire anyone who ever dreamt of creating art.”
The movie trailer is well worth the two minutes viewing time. And keep watch for some big names from the writing world, including my favorite tattoo buddy.
Happy writing, and may all your words be good ones!

I haven’t seen it, I hadn’t even heard of it! Now I have a question for you, why does that trailer make me want to leave work and start writing? Very intriguing, and I’m off to order a copy. Thanks!

Wow. I want to see that. It looks … really painful and embarrassing. I give him points for showing his poems to all those people so they can make fun of him.

I have to hope that there is some redemption by the end of this piece, but yes, I know what you mean.
