This is just a quick post in keeping with our previous discussion on the importance (or unimportance) of an author’s age. If you haven’t seen it, The New Yorker’s article, “Summer Fiction: 20 Under 40” lists its top picks of up-and-coming young authors, and seems to have plenty of people talking — some in angrier tones than others.
Check it out — you might find a new favorite, or get inspired to be featured on the next list. And, don’t despair if you’re on the other side of forty — there are MANY sites creating their own lists; writers to watch over 40,…60,…80(!). I don’t believe it’s ever too late to get started. Here’s one site that looked particularly interesting.
Keep reading, keep writing, and enjoy every minute!
I must admit I’m excited to see someone making a list about writers under 40. The hot list used to be under 30, which basically meant the lists went, “Bret Easton Ellis, Bret Easton Ellis, Bret Easton Ellis…” I guess it’s true: 40 is the new 30. Too bad poor Bret is is 46 now.
